2012-03-07: Dave & Amy

Exciting time!!!!!!!!!!!

Picked up Dave & Amy at St. Thomas airport.
Dinghied back to Dance Aweigh.
Dinner aboard.
Good sleep despite rolly anchorage.

Next morning, bright & early, pulled up anchor.
Motorsailed through nasty seas to Christmas Cove.

Better have sunscreen on those Jersey bodies!

Grabbed the last mooring & hit the water snorkeling.

Amy's a certified diver

Dave took to it  - like a fish to water?

Saw some fish, turtles, coral & this dude:

Where's the rest of his tail?

Quick sandwich, then off to St. John.
Strong winds & seas from the ESE,
so we headed for Waterlemon Bay (no typo)
on the North coast.

Moorings half price with "old farts pass"

Dinghied to the beach.

A bit stoney in texture

Hiked to the Annaberg ruins
.

Waterside trail

A well deserved rest

The wind was howling,
but that didn't prevent us from
BBQ'ing steak for dinner.

Next day we had a fabulous snorkel around Waterlemon Cay.

Bet he'd make a tasty dinner

Flounder - before he saw me

And after he saw me

Field of starfish

We were visited by a pod of Dolphins.

Buddy boats Wild Hair & Finally Fun pulled in
& joined us for cocktails & appetizers.

BBQ burgers for dinner.

Tuesday we decided to continue around the Eastern tip of St John.
27 kt winds & wild seas.

It was a relief to turn the corner
into Salt Pond Bay.

Once inside,
it was calm & beautiful.

Oh yeah, this is the life!

Great snorkeling, great beach!

Wednesday came way too soon!
Headed back to Charlotte Amalie
with gusts to 29 kts & following seas.

Lunch at Waterfront

Dave treated us to lunch.
Amy did some shopping.
Then it was back to the airport.

We had a great time seeing Dave
& meeting Amy for the 1st time.
Our only regret was
that they couldn't stay longer!!

Thanks for coming, Dave & Amy!!!!

  1. That went well! A certified diver and pretty too! Some guys have all the luck!I liked the flounder picture, that was pretty neat. Now wasn't that better than Culebra? You never would have got them back to St. Thomas.

I still haven't set up my packet radio system... I'll try and send a packet message when I get the TNC setup. :)

Central IL is crazy here right now- 80 degrees out! I was sweating the other day! Weird winter!

    Sending fair winds from Illinois!
