Wed, 12-22-10: Staniel to Georgetown

From Staniel, we motored (no wind) down Exuma Bank & entered Exuma Sound (3,000 ft deep) via Galliot Cut.  We were doing 9 kts with the outgoing tide & there were some residual seas from the East - made for some slamming & banging into a short steep chop.

I trolled for Mahi all the way down to Conch Cut, but no cigar!  5 PM saw us anchored off Chat 'N Chill (Volleyball Beach) in Elizabeth Harbor.  Only 125 boats here so far - will go up over 400 by the end of Feb.

Listened to the Cruisers Net on 72 @ 08:00.  Learned of the annual Cruisers Potluck Chrismas dinner on the beach - signed up - should be fun.

Hosted Vicarious, Eagles Wings & Rapture aboard Dance Aweigh to discuss the trip South.  Fun to meet all the folks who are on a similar path as we.

Here's Spencer & Kathleen from Vicarious:

Marcia from Eagles Wings, yours truly & Kathlene:

Took the dinghy across the harbor to Exuma Market for some groceries.  Here's the famous bridge to & from the dinghy dock:

And here's the queen trying to stay warm on the beach:

Merry Christmas from Georgetown, Exumas!!!!
